Product Introduction
Tripropylene glycol(24800-44-0、C9H20O4、Molecular Formula:192.3)is a co-product in the
manufacture of monopropylene glycol. It is obtained by the reaction of one molecule of water and
three molecules of propylene oxide. It is a slightly viscous and practically odorless liquid. It is
completely soluble in water and miscible with many organic solvents.
This product is for technical applications only and is not suitable for use in food or cosmetics.

Applications
Tripropylene glycol is a versatile chemical intermediate and is an excellent solvent in many applications
where other glycols are not as effective.
Solvent: Tripropylene glycol’s broad solvent properties for both hydrophilic and hydrophobic products
make it an excellent choice as a solvent. This combination of water solubility and solvent power for
many organic compounds, along with its low volatility and high boiling point, make it suitable for use in
textile soaps and lubricants, concentrated cutting oils, and similar products.
Intermediate: As an initiator for the synthesis of polyglycols and polyether polyols, these are used for
the production of polyurethanes and as a component in some polyurethane foam systems.
Expedition and storage recommendations
The product is shipped in bulk, IBC’s and drums. The expiration date of the product delivered in bulk, in
drums or IBC’s is 1 year.
Tripropylene Glycol is hygroscopic and sensitive to sunlight, air, oxidizing agents, acids, bases and high
temperatures. Tripropylene Glycol Industrial grade shipped by REPSOL MATERIALS S.A. is stable for at
least one year if stored at ambient temperatures (avoiding exceeding 35ºC), in closed opaque
containers avoiding oxygen atmosphere and humidity, away from sunlight and other sources of
ultraviolet light.
In cases where heating is required (e.g. bulk storage and/or transport containers), the temperature of
the product should be controlled to prevent accidental overheating, as this could lead to accelerated
oxidative degradation. As a rule, heating with a maximum limit of 40°C is recommended.
